Ways to support Educational Projects. It is important to support our youth, especially those in the community who would otherwise could not afford musical opportunities. Please be generous and support an educational program. The 2008-2009 season brings the Duchamp Duo, Nicholas Duchamp and Morgane Raoux, to the United States from France. Their original creation, "Fly Flee Flow" was a major hit in Paris and was compared to Babar the Elephant and Peter and the Wolf as the next importat introduction to classical music. Expenses include, lodging, visa expenses and curriculum support. Consider being a supporter of "Fly Flee Flow". CMW brings music enrichment into the school classrooms and presents an original story created by Artistic Director, Barbara McKenzie about Franz Joseph Haydn complete with original compositions and interactive activities. This project runs in keeping with the theme for the season, Haydn ~ simply classical! "The Boy who Sang for his Supper" is a true account of Papa Haydn's life as a boy who struggled to survive. It is a story of courage and fortitude and incredible character that will be inspirational to kids of all ages. Consider being a supporter of The Story of Papa Haydn, "The Boy who Sang for his Supper". Expenses include curriculum support, administrative expenses, online web curriculum, costume rental, a book/cd to donate to the participating school. George Crumb's "Voice of the Whale" will be performed again in the Beckwith Hall to 5th graders in the region. Thanks to grant funding, The Watson School of Education's Dr. Brenda Wheat and a grant from the UNCW Center for Marine Science, teachers are offered a curriculum guide. The curriculum is designed to raise fifth grade students' awareness of environmental issues and to teach them about classical music. Consider being a supporter of "The Voice of the Whale". Expenses include rental of crotales, administrative costs, curriculum aids, artist fees. All donations are tax deductable! |
